For the second year in a row, the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Office of Fingal County Council is inviting applications for its Placemaking Fund.
The fund was established to make Balbriggan an even better place to live, work and play by exploring the town’s creative side and showing Balbriggan in its best light.
The 2022 placemaking fund aims to showcase local creativity in the town, enabling more accessibility, providing opportunities for creatives/artists, and enhancing the town. Good ideas will receive funding from a minimum of €1,000 to a maximum of €5,000.

The announcement of the Placemaking Fund was welcomed by The Mayor of Fingal, Cllr Seána Ó Rodaigh who believes that it will help generate ideas to improve the public spaces in Balbriggan, Ireland’s youngest town.
“The fund will support the incredible local creative talent in the town, many examples of which can currently be seen around Balbriggan. It’s a great opportunity for the community to further showcase our local culture and heritage, and in doing so help us to better shape the place where we live,” she said.
Praising the fund as a continued sign of the Council’s commitment to the rejuvenation of Balbriggan, Chief Executive of Fingal County Council, AnnMarie Farrelly, said: “Having a robust placemaking approach in Balbriggan is helping us ensure we can capitalize on the local community’s assets, inspiration and potential, while also allowing us to create public spaces that promote people’s health, happiness, and well-being.”
News of the fund was also welcomed by Emer O’Gorman, Director of Economic, Enterprise, Tourism & Cultural Development, who said: “This fund sets out to enable the people of Balbriggan to have an impact in a very real way, giving them the power to express their own vision for the community and help shape the future of the town.”
