As part of the on-going €15 million redevelopment of Balbriggan’s Quay Street and Harbour, 15 car parking spaces are being temporarily removed at Mill Street Town car park, bringing the number of spaces available to 52.
The spaces will be in use on a temporary basis by the contractor, and will be available to the public again on December 1, 2025.
This is to allow site investigations at the adjacent brownfield site. It is anticipated the flagship plaza project at the Harbour will be substantially completed in spring 2026.
The works at Mill Street are part of the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Programme, led by Fingal County Council.
The authority has launched a free parking initiative in the town.
An additional 280 new free car parking spaces have been provided by Fingal County Council at three locations within a 10 to 15 minute walk of Balbriggan Railway Station, where paid parking remains in operation.

It is recommended rail users travelling to and from the Station by car should avail of the new free car parking spaces, if at all possible.
The newly redeveloped car park at Bath Road, which is less than 10 minutes’ walk from the Railway Station, has 119 spaces.
These include six disabled spaces – two of which are EV spaces, 13 dedicated EV spaces, and bicycle parking for 14 bikes and three adapted bicycles.
The newly redeveloped car park at Bremore Castle, expected to be fully open by the end of this month, is a 15 minute walk from the Railway Station, and has 111 spaces.
There are five disabled spaces – two of which are EV spaces – 19 dedicated EV spaces two bus/coach spaces, and 31 bicycle spaces, 16 of which can cater for adapted bicycles.
An additional 50 free car parking spaces are available at the Lambeecher Overflow car park, a 10 minute walk from the Railway Station.
The ambitious vision contained in the Our Balbriggan Rejuvenation Programme was the result of historic community engagement in 2019 which saw more than 25% of residents outline their preferences for the future of the town.
The Programme set out an ambitious vison shaped by townspeople.
The total investment in physical, infrastructural improvements between 2020-2030 is currently projected at €54-€57 million.
