MAY IN PICTURES: #OurBalbriggan Best Shots

If there is one positive thing to come out of the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s that we as locals of Balbriggan have really begun to appreciate the beauty of our local area.

Following Government restrictions the community of Balbriggan have stayed within 5km of home, which has produced some top-quality photos of the town, beaches, parks and more.

Today, we have rounded up some of the best Balbriggan pictures taken throughout the month of May. From seasoned photographers who have reignited their love of photographing their local area, to novice photographers who have never picked up a camera before lockdown, we’ve included a great mix!

We hope you enjoy these beautiful shots, if you think your photo is worth adding to the mix, simply post to social media using #OURBALBRIGGAN and we will include in next month’s round-up of photos.

May kicked off to a great start with a ver successful Darkness into Light campaign. The people of Balbriggan really showed community spirit by getting up and out at the crack of dawn, while still maintaining social distance, and supporting Pieta House.

A beautiful shot by Brendan Dempsey. A picture that really sums up the brilliant children of Balbriggan at this time: positive and hopeful, with a real love for their hometown.

In between the beautiful sunshine, May did experience a day or two of fierce winds and rain, resulting in this beautiful shot from Gerry Canning. If you are photographing in these conditions, please always remember to stay well away from the water’s edge.

Lockdown has certainly quietened our streets, resulting in some beautiful aerial photography. Droning Above is a great account to follow for stunning pictures of our local area from the skies.

Certainly the ones benefiting from lockdown are the dogs of Balbriggan with plenty of walks and lots of attention from home! How lucky are we to have this beautiful beach to let our dogs enjoy.

Ardgillan Castle looking beautiful in the sunshine. The park is fully open once again after weeks of closure due to COVID-19. We ask people to please still respect social distancing protocals.
