Dublin Canvas, a community art project which transforms everyday objects into colourful canvases, is brightening Balbriggan.
The initiative adds vibrancy and creativity to public spaces by painting utility boxes and other structures.
Locally-based artist and illustrator Alessandra Pollicini painted You are Here’ at the Drogheda Street/Lambeecher junction.
The illustrator moved to Balbriggan in 2005.
“I have been drawing life-inspired quirky characters since I was a child,” said Alessandra.
“My biggest wish for my art, is that it makes you smile.
“I work from a studio at Ardgillan Castle in the Gardener’s Cottage, where I create and sell original artworks, bespoke illustrations and a growing range of cards and prints.
“My artworks and designs are also stocked in the Ardgillan Castle craft shop.”

Valeria Zaporojan painted ‘The Ripples of Love’ at the Harry Reynolds Road/Chapel Road junction.
“It is inspired by two swans who live at Balbriggan Harbour,” she said.
“Swans embody a sense of innocence, elegance and transformation.
“Unknowingly these swans represent what Balbriggan is experiencing now.
“A graceful transformation full of love and community.”

Clodagh O’Dwyer’s ‘There’s a lot out There’.
Artist and architectural student Clodagh O’Dwyer painted ‘There’s a lot out There’ at the Harry Reynolds Road.
Clodagh is known for her public art installations.
She also creates figurative work focusing on drawing and words.
