AUGUST IN PICTURES – What’s Been Happening in #OurBalbriggan

Our Balbriggan

It’s times like these we need to support local businesses more than ever! Our Balbriggan love to see new businesses popping up in the area! The Cabana family is growing and will now be near our friends and community in Castleland Park. Opening this Saturday the 29th at 9am for coffees, cakes and refills!

Back in June we asked the people of Balbriggan to celebrate the local community and say thanks to those who go above and beyond! Participants submitted videos saying who and what they were thankful for. All entries received an Our Balbriggan tote bag and went into a draw to win a beautiful Alison O’Grady print.

Congratulations to Damien, who was our final winner!

Earlier this month, Balbriggan was delighted to host the Leinster U18 Girls rugby squad for their training session. The evening was made that bit more special as one of our own Balbriggan girls, Hannah Barton, making the team. It was great to see Hannah lining out to train with the Leinster squad at her home club! Well done to the Leinster girls and to Hannah.

Beautiful new artwork ‘Wildflowers’ by Bernie Davis on an electrical box as part of the new Dublin Canvas project. Electrical boxes all over Dublin including Balbriggan are being decorated by local artists, commissioned by Dublin Canvas. This piece located at Chapel Street/Harry Reynolds Road, Balbriggan!

In between the rain and wind, of course there were some beautiful days, including a mini heatwave! Temperatures hit 26 degrees and Balbriggan beach was filled with families enjoying the weather, even O’Dwyers GAA swapped their regular pitch training for some beach skillls instead!

August also saw Mayor David Healy launch the Fingal Road Safety Section “Gearing up for Training” initiative for clubs in Fingal with Irish Centre for Cycling! The initiative aims to provide children, and GAA clubs in particular, with the skills to cycle to their training and local club houses with confidence.
